About Kundel Industries
Kundel Industries was started by contractor Robert Kundel Sr. in the dining room of the Kundel family household. After the downturn in the construction market at the end of the '80s, Robert Kundel Sr. found himself reevaluating where he stood in his industry.
Understanding he needed to make his mark, he began looking for ways to do just that. With the help of a local engineer, Robert was successfully able to design a trench box that could better serve contractors’ needs than the options then available on the market. His trench boxes have their design based on real-world usage needs like excavator capabilities, contractor usage, soil conditions, and pipe length. Areas of the trench box that experience more driving and wear and tear were reinforced, allowing for better and safer use.
Unlike modern Kundel trench boxes, this first trench box had problems with moveability. The company’s one large overhead crane could not handle its transport. Because of this, Kundel also started moving into crane designs, creating a series of parallel runways with consecutive bridges along each runway. Using engineering concepts like pendulating runways and articulating bridges, Kundel was able to create a crane system that put less stress on the supporting structure and offered extremely smooth transportation.
From there, Kundel has continued making strides in shoring equipment innovation, helping contractors around the world perform their work efficiently and safely. It’s only a call or text away.
